AmiCane Product FAQs

PRODUCT & FEATURES

The smart walking stick includes a bright multi-intensity LED torch, SOS emergency alert button, automatic fall detection, adjustable height for comfortable use, and a compact yet strong anti-slip quadpod base suitable for small sized steps as well as uneven terrain.

The stick has built-in motion sensors that monitor movement and stick orientation. When the stick remains unattended in a non-vertical position for about 45 seconds, fall is detected. When a fall is detected, it automatically triggers buzzer and flickering light.  The companion app on mobile phone sends cane drop alert message using SMS as well as App-to-App data communication.  Further it alternatingly calls up to two configured care givers.

If the stick is attended by placing it vertical again, and it remains in that position for 20 seconds, the alert is cleared.  Alternatively, any care giver could set “I can attend” or “User is Safe” option on the Alerts dashboard to clear the alert.

The SOS button sends an emergency alert to your chosen care givers and family members. Simply press the button firmly and release it to activate it. The stick will then send a message, make a call, or sound an alarm based on your configuration.  The alert can be sent by pressing the SoS button available on the App dashboard for about 2-3 seconds.

The LED torch provides strong illumination suitable for nighttime walking. On a full charge, it typically lasts between 12-14 hours depending on the intensity chosen.

SAFETY & RELIABILITY

Fall alert is created only if the stick is in the non-vertical position continuously for 45 seconds. Thus there is a less chance of triggering a false alarm.

Your pre-saved caregivers (emergency contact(s)) will receive the alert via SMS, call, or app notification depending on your device configuration.

Yes. Its strong base, ergonomic handle, and emergency functions make it ideal for elderly users who need additional support and safety.

SOS and fall-detection notifications may be delayed if the mobile network is weak. However, the torch, height adjustment, and base stability continue to work normally.

In sleep mode the stick stops its operations like torch, SoS and fall detection.  Sleep mode is essential if you want to place the stick in horizontal mode during the travel.  It also saves power significantly.  Sleep mode can be activated easily using the button available on the User profile screen. Alternatively it can be activated by holding the white and red button (first two buttons from the front) until you hear two beeps.

AmiCane can be activated by toggling the button from the App.  This choice is available if you used the App to activate the Sleep mode.  You can always end the Sleep mode by holding the torch button and SoS button simultaneously until you hear four beeps.

Yes. The stick has multiple height levels. Simply loosen the locking hexagon shaped nut, press the round button and slide the stick to the desired height so that the button pops out completely from the hole. Tighten the hexagonal nut properly to securely lock it in place.

It features a reinforced, compact yet sturdy quadpod, with anti-slip rubber pods that increases ground contact and reduces the risk of slipping on smooth or uneven surfaces.

Yes, the stick is designed to withstand light rain and everyday outdoor conditions. However, it should not be submerged in water.

MAINTENANCE & DURABILITY

Wipe it regularly with a damp cloth, avoid exposing it to extreme heat or moisture, and check the rubber pods for wear. Keep the charging port clean. If you find uneven wearing of the rubber pods, rotate their positions every few weeks.

Battery can be replaced only by our authorized service personnel.

Try pressing and holding the white and orange button together and check if it gives four beeps while coming out of sleep mode.  If it still doesn’t respond, recharge it for 2 hours. Try toggling the sleep mode again. Contact support if the issue continues.

The electronics are protected with shock-resistant housing and designed for daily outdoor use. Normal drops and vibrations will not damage the system.

Stick does not need updates.  However the app itself is auto-updated when a new version is available.

SETUP & USAGE

Charge the device fully, set your preferred height, download the app using QR code provided on the box of AmiCane.  Request your caregivers to also download and configure their details in the app. Once done, your AmiCane torch blinks once to confirm that it is connected with the Appp. You are ready to use AmiCane.

Open the mobile app, turn on Bluetooth, and follow the on-screen instructions. The stick will appear in the device list—tap to connect.

Use the USB charging cable provided. A full charge typically takes 2–3 hours. The LED indicator will show when charging is complete.

You can gently place the stick and let it stay stationary for about 45 seconds on the floor to simulate a fall. The buzzer will keep beeping and its torch will blink slowly. App should notify your caregivers over App to App communication and SMS.  You can make the stick rest on its quad pod again and the AmiCane will go back to normal, clearing the cane drop alert. Do not perform risky tests with your body.

Press the white coloured torch button once to switch it on.  It is a multi-intensity torch with four intensity levels.  Press it repeatedly to get the desired intensity.  After reaching 100% intensity, press the button again to turn it off. Some models may have brightness levels that cycle with each press.

Press the greem button (I am OK button).  The buzzer audio will stop and torch will stop blinking. I am OK message will be sent to your caregivers.

Note: If there is no on-going alert you could simply press I am OK button to declare you are safe to your caregivers.  Your current location is also conveyed to your caregivers.
